Rob Harbottle, Director of Golf

Growing up in Lakewood Washington I had two parents who were accomplished amateur golfers and introduced me to the game at the age of 7. Working in the golf industry for me began in the bag room at the age 14. I enjoyed the opportunity to play college golf at the University of Portland where I placed 3rd at the 1992 Boise State Invitational.  After graduation I began working as a golf professional at Tacoma Country & Golf Club in Washington. From there my career continued at The Vintage Club in California, Astoria Country Club and Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Oregon, then to Carson Valley Golf Course in Northern Nevada and back to Tacoma Country & Golf Club. For the past 17 years I have worked in the capacity as the Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf.  During my time at Columbia Edgewater, I had the opportunity to spend two years as the men’s golf coach for The University of Portland.  Moving to the Boise area and working at BanBury thus far has been the highlight of my career for myself and family since my late brother was the architect who designed this great golf course.

Over the years I have enjoyed coaching and teaching in a variety of ways. Women’s clinics, youth programs, high school and college golf teams, playing, private and group lessons. For me teaching golf provides the opportunity to share my love for this game with others

Jordan Cassel, PGA Head Professional

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, I learned to play golf at the age of 10. Just a few years later I began working in the golf industry in 1989.  I worked at golf courses in high school and college while also playing on the golf teams for both.  I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Chico.  I left the golf industry for a few years but my love for the game brought me back to Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, Ca where I enjoyed working as a golf professional for 16 years.  Working at such a famous place provided me with the opportunity to meet and work with a wide variety of people with a wide variety of golfing abilities. I enjoy teaching the game to individuals of all skill levels. From juniors all the way through to the advanced level.

Drew McDonald, Associate PGA Professional

I graduated from Boise State in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication. Golf has always been a part of my life growing up, whether it was playing with my dad or childhood friends at my local muni West Seattle Golf Course or watching the sport on TV. I remember feeling the most joy watching The Open Championship early in the mornings with my dad and brother. It seemed to me watching the tournament that this was the way golf was meant to be played, also the courses in Scotland always caught my attention. I still hope to make it there one day! In college I pursued another sport competitively which was distance running. I was fortunate enough to get a college scholarship at Boise State and comepeted there for 4 years. After school, I chose my first love being golf and have been actively pursuing PGA membership through the Professional Golf Management program. Everything I learned in my time running has made me a better player and coach in golf.
